VolMeur
CERN @ Materials for the Arts, New York
Contemporary Reuse Exhibition, Materials for the Arts, New York, 2019

VolMeur was an international art and science project developed at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research and the world's largest particle physics laboratory. As a particle physicist collaborating with CERN for more than two decades, I became involved in preserving part of the laboratory's audiovisual archive. During this work, hundreds of forgotten 35 mm slides damaged by mould were rediscovered. Rather than being discarded, they became the foundation of VolMeur, and ultimately the origin of Back to the Mould.
VolMeurA collaboration between scientists and artists developed at CERN, exploring the intersection of analogue photography, natural processes and contemporary art.

VolMeur represents an important chapter in my artistic journey. The ideas explored through this collaboration later evolved into my independent project, Back to the Mould, where mould itself became the primary artistic medium.
